When the sidewalks on any of the streets and parts of streets designated in § 90.036 are constructed of cement the curb shall be of sufficient width and depth to give the sidewalks stability and permanence. When the sidewalks are constructed of stone, the stone shall not be less than 4 inches thick and shall in all cases be whole stone extending unbroken the full width of the walk, and all the sidewalks constructed of stone shall be constructed with a stone curb 6 inches thick and not less than 2 feet wide, which curb shall be firmly set in not less than 6 inches of sand.
