§ 34.09  SUSPENSION OR INVOLUNTARY DISCHARGE.
   The Fire Chief shall have the power to suspend without pay any firefighter or cadet of the Department for a period of not more than 30 days, but he or she shall immediately notify in writing the Mayor of the suspension.  Any firefighter or cadet so suspended may appeal, in writing, to the Mayor and City Council through the City Clerk within 72 hours after the suspension for a hearing thereon.  After the hearing on the appeal, the Mayor and City Council may sustain the action of the Fire Chief, may reverse the action of the Fire Chief in whole or in part, may suspend the firefighter or cadet for an additional period of time certain or may terminate him or her, depending on the facts of the case.
