§ 91.27  ADDRESSING GUIDELINES.
   (A)   Road identification.
      (1)   All county roads with the exception of lettered or numbered state and federal highways will be assigned names.
      (2)   All dead ends, unless named before the enhanced 9-1-1 project was underway, will be designated as “Lanes.”
      (3)   All roads that are not dead ends will be designated as “Roads.”
      (4)   Only those roads with three or more residences located on them will be named for the purposes of enhanced 9-1-1.
      (5)   The name cannot be close to or duplicate (phonetically or spelled out) any other road name in the same zip code.
      (6)   Directional terms, such as south, are not generally accepted.
      (7)   Road name should be no longer than 15 characters.
      (8)   The road names were provided to the MCETSB by county fire departments and districts, ambulance services, sheriffs department, County Highway Department, surrounding county enhanced 9-1-1 offices, Township Road Commissioners, and county residents who mailed in the appropriate forms. After that, road names were assigned by the MCETSB and its Administrator and Administrative Assistant.
   (B)   House numbers.
      (1)   All structures in the unincorporated areas of the county which have or may have a telephone at some time in the future will be assigned a two- to five-digit house number.
      (2)   A corner point grid system will be used beginning with 0/0 in the southwest corner of the county. One thousand addresses will be assigned per mile.
      (3)   Even numbers will be assigned on the east side of north/south roads and on the north side of east/west roads. Odd numbers will be assigned on the west side of north/south roads and on the south side of east/west roads.
      (4)   Existing addresses within municipalities will be retained unless a change is requested by the municipality. Municipalities without existing addresses may develop an addressing scheme or choose to be addressed from the county grid.
