Upon expiration of seven days from the date of impoundment, an unclaimed dog or cat, which has been deemed suitable for adoption by the Animal Control Officer or Administrator, may be adopted by any person other than the owner upon payment of the adoption fee and approved application. If no placement is available or the animal is deemed unadoptable, it shall be humanely dispatched pursuant to the Humane Euthanasia in Animal Shelters Act.
