171.02 CLERK OF COURT AND DEPUTY CLERK OF COURT.
   (a)   There is hereby created the positions of Clerk of Court and Deputy Clerk of Court of the Mayor’s Court.
   (b)   The Clerk and Deputy Clerk shall be appointed by the Mayor.
   (c)   The Clerk and Deputy Clerk shall have general powers to administer oaths, take affidavits to issue and sign all writs, processes, subpoenas, and papers issuing out of the Court, and attach the seal of the Court thereto, and power to approve all bonds, sureties, recognizance, and undertakings fixed by any Judge of the Court or by law. The Deputy Clerk shall, under the direction of the Clerk, keep all journals, records, books and papers belonging to or appertaining to the Court, record its proceedings, and perform all other duties which the Clerk of Court may prescribe consistent with the duties established under subsection (e), and keep a book showing all receipts and disbursements, which shall be open for public inspection at all times.
   (d)   The Clerk and Deputy Clerk shall be paid such compensation as is fixed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council.
   (e)   The persons appointed to the positions of Clerk of Court and Deputy Clerk of Court of the Mayor’s Court in the City shall perform all of the duties heretofore fixed by Council and/or the Mayor for their respective positions.
