161.23 NEPOTISM PROHIBITED.

   (a)   The hiring by the City of Macedonia of a Family Member, as defined below, of elected City officials or City department heads, to any employment positions, whether regular full-time, or temporary or other appointment, is prohibited. Seasonal employees are exempt from this restriction. Employment resulting from competitive examination pursuant to the City Civil Service regulations is also exempt from this restriction.

   (b)   “Family Member” defined as parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, spouses, siblings (brother and sister by blood or adoption), and in-laws of the official.

   (c)   Any employee defined as a “Family Member” who is employed by the City of Macedonia on the effective date of this Ordinance shall be exempt from its provisions unless the employee leaves the employment of the City. (Ord. 82-2018. Passed 9-27-18.)
