14-1-12: VIOLATIONS; PENALTIES:
   A.   Failure to comply with the requirements of a permit or conditions of a variance resolution shall be deemed to be a violation of this chapter. Upon due investigation, the village building director may determine that a violation of the minimum standards of this chapter exists. The village building director shall notify the property owner in writing of such violation.
   B.   If such owner fails, after ten (10) days' notice, to correct the violation:
      1.   The village may make application to the circuit court for an injunction requiring conformance with this chapter or for such other order as the court deems necessary to secure compliance with this chapter.
      2.   Any person who violates this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) or more than seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) for each offense.
      3.   A separate offense shall be deemed committed upon each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues.
      4.   The village may record a notice of violation on the title to the property.
      5.   The village may issue adjudication citations or take other action as allowed by law to prosecute and/or seek remedies and sanctions for violations of this chapter.
   C.   The village building director shall inform the owner that any such violation is considered a wilful act to increase flood damages and, therefore, may cause coverage by a standard flood insurance policy to be suspended.
   D.   Nothing herein shall prevent the village from taking such other lawful action to prevent or remedy any violations. All costs connected therewith shall accrue to the person or persons responsible. (1965 Code § 7-18-14)
