For purposes of this title, certain terms or words used herein shall be interpreted as follows:
A. "Person" means any individual, firm, copartnership, joint venture, association, social club, fraternal organization, corporation, estate, trust, business trust, receiver, syndicate, this village and any county, city, municipality, or other political subdivision, or any other group or combination acting as a unit, or personal representative thereof.
B. The present tense includes the future tense, the singular number includes the plural, and the plural number includes the singular.
C. The word "shall" is a mandatory requirement, the word "may" is a permissive requirement, and the word "should" is a preferred requirement.
D. The words "used" or "occupied" include the words "intended, designed, or arranged to be used or occupied".
E. The word "lot" includes the words "plot" or "parcel". (1965 Code title 6 § 201.1)
