11-2-2: CONNECTIONS, INSTALLATION AND REPAIR:
   A.   Water Mains And Service Pipes:
      1.   The village inspector(s) will inspect all connections made to any water main.
      2.   The service pipe shall be of copper and shall be a minimum of one inch (1") diameter.
      3.   All demolition projects or other discontinuation of water service pipes shall require such service to be disconnected and capped at the water main in a manner approved by the village engineer and at the expense of the owner of the premises that is subject to the disconnection.
      4.   All new construction shall require a new water service line in compliance with this chapter and the village plumbing code.
      5.   The repair of existing lead based service pipes or other service not in conformance with this section and the village plumbing code is prohibited. All such nonconforming service pipes shall be replaced with conforming pipes. The owner of the affected premises shall be solely responsible for the cost attendant to the replacement of the service pipe between the affected premises and the water main.
      6.   The installation, termination, replacement and service of underground water service shall be inspected and approved by the building director or his designee prior to covering same. (1965 Code § 5-2-2)
      7.   A separate stop and waste cock shall be placed on the service pipe just inside the building wall on the influent side of the water meter. Such stops shall be equal in quality to the service cock. (1965 Code § 5-2-3)
      8.   The service pipe from the service cock to the building and the stop and waste cock shall be of copper and shall be installed and properly maintained by the owner. The owner shall keep the stop box free from dirt, stones or other substances that may or could prevent access to the service cock. The buffalo box, shutoff or B box shall be located in the parkway or on village property. (1965 Code § 5-2-4)
   B.   Sewer Mains And Service Pipes:
      1.   The village inspector(s) will inspect all connections made to any sewer main.
      2.   The service line shall be SDR 26, cast iron or Amvet Nobell tile.
      3.   All demolition projects or other discontinuation of sewer connections shall require such connections to be capped at the main or in the parkway, as required by the village engineer and at the sole expense of the owner of the affected premises.
      4.   All new construction shall require a new sewer connection to the main in compliance with this chapter and the village plumbing code.
      5.   The installation, termination, replacement and service of sewer lines shall be inspected and approved by the building director or his designee prior to covering same.
   C.   Line Repairs: All repairs to or the replacement of service pipes between the water main to the affected premises shall be made at the sole expense of the owner of the premises served. Repairs to or the replacement of the service pipes must be completed within ten (10) days of notification of the need for such repairs. The village manager, is authorized to disconnect water service to any building when the owner or occupant thereof refuses or fails to complete repairs within the time prescribed. The village may, in case of emergency, repair any service pipe, and if this is done, the cost of such repair work shall be repaid to the village by the owner of the premises served. Failure to repay said cost will result in a lien being placed against the property. (1965 Code § 5-2-2; amd. Ord. 08-04-20-O2, 8-4-2020)
