8-3-2: LICENSE REQUIRED; FEES:
   A.   Licensing Requirements:
      1.   No person shall own or keep a dog or cat unless such dog or cat is licensed as hereinafter provided. Every person who owns or keeps a dog or cat shall report to the village clerk his name and address and shall, at the time of application for the license, give the name, breed, color and sex of each and every dog or cat owned or kept by such person, and shall pay to the clerk the sum of three dollars ($3.00) for each sterile dog or cat and five dollars ($5.00) for each fertile dog or cat so owned or so kept, and shall cause such dog or cat to be registered for license in the office of the clerk.
      2.   Upon payment to the village clerk the fee herein provided, the clerk shall furnish to the person paying such fee a license tag and memorandum of registry for each dog or cat for which the fee has been paid.
      3.   All such licenses shall expire on December 31 following the date of issue. In the event that a license is not obtained by any owner of a dog or cat prior to June 1 of each year, then the cost for such license after said date shall be the sum of ten dollars ($10.00) for each dog or cat.    B.   Nonresidents Exempt: The provisions of this chapter relating to the licensing of dogs or cats shall not apply to dogs and cats of nonresidents remaining temporarily in or passing through the village. (1965 Code § 9-7-43)
