7-1-3: POLICE CHIEF POWERS AND DUTIES:
   A.   Management Of Department: The Chief of Police shall have the management and control of all matters relating to the Police Department, its officers and members, subject to orders and directions of the Village Manager, and all rules and regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. He shall have the custody and control of the offices, stations, equipment, books, records and other property belonging to said department. (1965 Code § 9-4-4)
   B.   Keeping Records: The Chief of Police, or someone designated by him for that purpose, shall keep a suitable record of all arrests and enter thereon the number of arrests, date, name of prisoner, charge, name of officer making arrest, name of the court trying the charge, amount of fine imposed and the costs, if any, and such other and further information as may be necessary or essential for the maintenance of said records for future reference, and shall furnish a monthly report thereof to the President and Board of Trustees.
