(A) It shall be unlawful for any person to connect, or permit the connection of, or authorize the connection of any service line to a sanitary sewer main or lateral within the town without obtaining a sanitary sewer connection permit from the town.
(B) The owner of any real estate who desires a sanitary sewer connection permit shall submit an application therefor on forms provided by the town and shall pay a fee in the amount of $10 for each connection. The application shall be in writing, shall be signed and verified by the owner of the property which is to be connected to the sanitary sewer system, and shall contain such information as the town shall, from time to time, require.
(C) All sanitary sewer connections shall be made in conformity with the following regulations.
(1) Clay pipe.
(a) All such connections shall be made with six-inch PVC, ASTM 3034, either SDR-35 or SDR-2S sewer pipe, which pipe and fittings shall be so marked so as to permit inspection.
(b) All such connections shall be made without breaking, punching, hammering, drilling or wedging the existing clay plug/disc from the existing six-inch house service lateral.
(c) A clay pipe “snapper” shall be used to remove the bell end with the clay plug/disc as one unit.
(d) The cut shall be even and uniform throughout the entire circumference of the six-inch pipe lateral.
(e) All couplings shall be flexible with two stainless steel bands.
(2) Plastic pipe.
(a) All such connections shall be made with six-inch PVC, ASTM 3034, either SDR-35 or SDR-26 sewer pipe, which pipe and fittings shall be so marked so as to permit inspection.
(b) All such connections shall be made without breaking, punching, hammering, drilling or wedging the existing plastic cap from the existing six-inch house service lateral.
(c) A saw shall be used to remove the cap off the end of the plastic pipe without damaging the rest of the pipe.
(d) The cut shall be even and uniform throughout the entire circumference of the six-inch pipe lateral.
(e) All connections to the pipe lateral shall be made with a solvent welded (glued) fitting. The glue shall be of the type recommended by the pipe manufacturer.
(D) The trench in which the pipe is set and the connections are made shall be left open for inspection by the town, and approval of such connection shall be obtained before the backfilling of the sewer trench may proceed.
