§ 37.075 WORK PRACTICES.
   (A)   Equal opportunity. The town believes in equal opportunity for all employees and candidates for employment. Individuals are selected and placed on the basis of qualifications for the work to be performed. The town strives to permit each employee to achieve their potential.
   (B)   Sexual harassment. It is the policy of the town to provide a work environment free from any and all forms of sexual harassment. Such harassment should be understood to include the use of sexually suggestive or demeaning language, as well as unwelcome sexual advances or physical contact. Employees who believe they are being subjected to sexual harassment are encouraged to immediately contact their supervisor or the President of the Town Council. If complaint toward a Town Council member, the employee is encouraged to immediately contact the Town Attorney.
   (C)   Compensation. The town endeavors to provide compensation levels adequate to attract and retain highly qualified employees and intend to base increases in pay on the employee’s job performance.
   (D)   Employee development. At every level, each supervisor is responsible for helping their employees reach their full potential. Supervisors should discuss strengths and areas for improvement, provide assistance in planning for future growth, and create opportunities for employees to learn new skills and prepare for new responsibilities.
   (E)   Safety and health. The safety and health of the town employees are of highest priority. No employee of the town is ever to be asked to violate safety rules, and no departure from safety rules or safe work practices will be tolerated, no matter how urgent or important the job. Such cases are treated with an attitude of concern and understanding. The town provides avenues for such an employee to seek appropriate help, although each employee remains responsible for adequately performing his or her job.
   (F)   Obligations to customers. Privacy is a matter of trust between us and our customers. We do not violate that trust by misusing information on individual customers or by providing lists of our customers to others for commercial or other purposes except as required by law or as approved by the Town Council members.
   (G)   Purchasing. It is the policy of the town to purchase all needed equipment, supplies and service on the basis of quality, utility and the price offered by vendors. These factors being equal among bidders, the town selects suppliers located within our service territory, with the state, within this nation and worldwide, in that order.
