For the purpose of this Zoning Code, “sign” does not include signs erected and maintained pursuant to and in the discharge of any governmental function, or required by any law, ordinance or governmental regulation, or erected to promote the City of Lyndhurst after Council has first determined the sign does not create a safety hazard and is not contrary to the purposes of this chapter.
