159.13 ETHICS.
   The following Code of Ethics for the Conduct of Public Business in the City of Lyndhurst, Ohio, is hereby adopted and established and as established shall serve as a guide for the conduct of such business. Public officials, employees, citizens and residents of the City, as well as all other persons, are urged to conform to the Code of Ethics when engaged in the conduct of public business within the City.

THE CONDUCT OF PUBLIC BUSINESS
IN THE
CITY OF LYNDHURST, OHIO
 
Pride in our community and loyalty to its citizens and officials should encourage the support of the following code:
 
OBLIGATIONS OF CITIZENS TO PUBLIC OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES
   Special consideration by groups or individuals should not be sought. Citizens should judge public officials and employees on the basis of the performance of their official duties. Citizens should extend to public officials and employees the same courtesy and consideration commonly accepted in all other social contacts.
 
OBLIGATIONS OF PUBLIC OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES TO CITIZENS
   Special consideration should not be granted by any public official or employee to any citizen or group. Public officials and employees shall at all times conscientiously and faithfully perform their duties. They should be tactful, patient and courteous in the conduct of public affairs.
 
OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT AND PUBLIC SERVICE
   Public servants should not engage in any outside employment which will conflict with their duties or be detrimental to the public service. Citizens should recognize that full-time service cannot be expected unless compensation consistent with full-time employment is provided.
 
USE OF PUBLIC PROPERTY
   No citizen, public official or employee should request or permit the use of City-owned vehicles, equipment, materials or property for personal convenience or profit.
 
SUPPORT OF LAW
   Every citizen, as well as every public official and employee, has the responsibility to uphold the law and report violations.
 
POLITICAL ACTIVITY
   All citizens, public officials and employees should inform themselves as to the merits of all candidates and issues and should vote at every election, but classified civil service employees should not be requested, required or permitted to take an active part in political campaigns for candidates.
 
GIFTS
   No citizen or public official should accept or extend any gift or consideration for any special service or privilege.
