660.05 DUTY TO KEEP SIDEWALKS IN REPAIR AND CLEAN; SNOW REMOVAL.
   (a)   No owner or occupant of abutting lands shall fail to keep the sidewalks, curbs or gutters in repair and free from snow, ice or any nuisance.

   (b)   No person removing snow or ice, or on whose behalf snow or ice is removed, from any private driveway, curb, sidewalk or apron, shall deposit, allow to be deposited on his or her behalf or acquiesce in the deposit of snow or ice on the pavement of any public street or upon any sidewalk, driveway apron or private property other than that which he or she occupies or is in control of, or around any fire hydrant so as to cover any fire hydrant. The person in occupancy or in control of the premises shall be responsible for the acts of an independent contractor hired by him or her for the purpose of removing snow and ice, or causing snow and ice to be removed or moved, contrary to this division.    (c)   Sidewalks shall be cleaned and made passable within twenty-four hours of the snowfall.
   (d)   Where the elevation or topography of any lot or parcel of land abutting upon a sidewalk is such in relation to the sidewalk that earth, stone, sand or gravel slides, falls or is carried upon such sidewalk by force of gravity or by action of water, the owner or person in charge or control of such lot or parcel of land shall, within twenty-four hours after the depositing of such matter upon the sidewalk, remove or cause the same to be removed. If, by reason of the elevation or topography of such lot or parcel of land a recurrence of such obstruction or nuisance upon the sidewalk is probable or reasonably to be anticipated, the owner or person in charge or control of such lot or parcel of land shall construct upon his or her land such suitable retaining wall or other device as will effectively prevent such recurrence.

   (e)   Whoever violates any of the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. A separate offense shall be deemed committed each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues.
