(a) No person operating a bicycle or tricycle shall fail to obey the instructions of official traffic control signals, signs and other control devices applicable to vehicles, unless otherwise directed by a police officer.
(b) Persons riding bicycles or tricycles upon a street shall ride in single file only and not abreast except on paths or parts of streets set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles or tricycles.
(c) Wherever a designated usable path for bicycles or tricycles has been provided adjacent to a street, bicycle or tricycle riders shall use such path and shall not use the street.
(d) No person shall ride a bicycle or tricycle upon a sidewalk upon or along which signs have been erected by authority of the Director of Safety prohibiting such bicycle or tricycle riding.
(e) Whenever a person is riding a bicycle or tricycle upon a sidewalk or street, such person shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian and shall give an audible signal before attempting to overtake and pass a pedestrian or another bicycle or tricycle. This audible signal must be given only by bell or other warning device capable of giving an audible signal and shall be given at such a distance and in such a manner as not to startle any person being overtaken and passed.
(f) Whenever a person is riding a bicycle or tricycle upon a sidewalk, the person, before overtaking and passing a blind person carrying a white or metallic cane, shall dismount and pass on foot.
(g) When a bicycle or tricycle is operated on the street, the operator shall give hand signals before turning, changing lanes or stopping. Such signals shall conform with Section 432.14.
(h) Every rider of a bicycle or tricycle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian or any vehicle upon any roadway, sidewalk or bicycle or tricycle path. Due care shall also be exercised to avoid endangering the life, limb or property of any person while in the lawful use of the streets, sidewalks or any other private or public property.
