For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
COMMISSIONER. The Commissioner of National Resources of the state acting directly or through his or her authorized agent.
DAYLIGHT HOURS. Any time, except from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise and at any other time there is not sufficient light to render clearly discernible persons and vehicles at a distance of 500 feet.
OPERATE. To ride in or on and control the operation of a snowmobile.
OPERATOR. Every person who operates or is in actual physical control of a snowmobile.
OWNER. A person, other than a lienholder, having the property in or title to a snowmobile and entitled to the use or possession thereof.
ROADWAY. The portion of a street or highway improved, designed or ordinarily used for vehicular travel.
SNOWMOBILE. A self-propelled vehicle designed for travel on snow or ice and steered by skis or runners.
