The following specifications for sidewalks installed within the Village limits are adopted:
(a) Sidewalks shall be 4" thick on 4" of compacted sand fill. Concrete shall be a standard mix (4 to 1 ratio - minimum 4 bag mix) of Portland cement. Driveways shall be a minimum of 6" thick.
(b) Control joints shall be spaced approximately 5 feet on center and expansion joints shall be at approximately 20 foot intervals and also occur adjacent to all construction items in place when walks are poured.
(c) Provide 6 x 6 - 8/8 welded wire mesh in all walks. Mesh shall be continuous through control joints and cut at expansion joints.
(d) Expansion joint filler shall be premolded, non-extruding foamed rubber ½ inch thick. Depress to edge of strips and fill groove with approved non-tracking sealant.
(e) Edges of sidewalks, and edges at control and expansion joints shall be neatly finished using a 3/8 inch radius tool.
(f) Handicapped accessible sidewalk ramps shall be required at intersecting street rights of way.
(g) Sidewalk shall be inspected by Village personnel before it is poured.
(h) The contractor or individual who will be installing the sidewalk must apply for a revokable zoning permit from the zoning inspector.
(1) A deposit of 10% of the estimated cost of the project with a minimum of $30.00 must be paid at the time the permit is issued.
(2) The deposit will be refunded upon approval of the sidewalk by the Sidewalk Committee.
(3) If the sidewalk is not approved, the deposit will be forfeited as a penalty.
