155.10 SICK LEAVE.
   (a)   Each employee, except part-time police officers, whose salary or wage is paid in whole or in part by the Village of Lowellville, shall be entitled for each completed eighty (80) hours of service, to sick leave of four and six-tenths (4.6) hours with pay. Employees may use sick leave, upon approval of the responsible Administrative officer of the Village for absences due to personal illness, pregnancy, injury, exposure to contagious disease which could be communicated to other employees, and for illness, injury, or death in the employee's immediate family.
   (b)   Unused sick leave shall be cumulative without limit. When sick leave is used, it shall be deducted from the employee's credit on the basis of one (1) hour for every one (1) hour required. If medical attention is required, a certificate stating the nature of the illness from the licensed physician shall be required to justify the use of sick leave. Falsification of either written, signed statement or a physician's certificate shall be grounds for disciplinary action, including dismissal. The amount of the sick leave of the employee is entitled to, shall be computed by the
Clerk-Treasurer of the Village.
   (c)   (1)   Employees Hired After April 1, 2017.       (2)   Unused sick leave shall accumulate to a maximum of 235 days (1880 hrs.). When sick leave is used, it shall be deducted from the employee's credit on the basis of one (1) hour for every one (1) hour required. If medical attention is required, a certificate stating the nature of the illness from the licensed physician shall be required to justify the use of sick leave. Falsification of either written, signed statement or a physician's certificate shall be grounds for disciplinary action, including dismissal. The amount of the sick leave of the employee is entitled to, shall be computed by the Clerk-Treasurer of the Village.
