(A) Definition. JAKE BRAKES. Any dynamic braking device (commonly referred to as jake brakes, jacobs brakes, engine brakes or compression brakes) used primarily on trucks for the conversion of the engine from an internal combustion engine to an air compressor for the purpose of braking a vehicle without the use of wheel brakes.
(B) Use prohibited. It is unlawful for any person to operate any motor vehicle with a jake or dynamic braking device engaged with the town limits.
(C) Penalty. Each violation of this section shall, in addition to any other penalty that may be applicable, subject the operator of said vehicle to a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $1,000 for each such violation.
(D) Posting signs. The Director of Public Works is authorized and directed to post appropriate signs consistent with the provisions of this section.
