The purpose of this subchapter is to grant medical and salary benefits for certain civilian employees in the Louisville Metro Police Department injured in the line of duty when performing extra-hazardous duties similar to those performed by sworn police officers involving law enforcement and detention of prisoners, and it being further understood that the provisions of this subchapter shall only cover such activities that are similar to the duties of sworn police officers.
