The Metro Government and each of the departments and agencies of the Metro Government for which separate pension and retirement systems have not been established are authorized to participate, in the County Employees Retirement System ("CERS") effective January 6, 2003. All eligible regular full-time officers and employees of the Metro Government and such departments and agencies are authorized and directed to comply with the statutory requirements of the County Employees Retirement System. Nothing contained herein shall be deemed to authorize or require participation in the County Employees Retirement System by those employees of the Department of Public Safety who are members of the Policemen's Retirement Fund of the City of Louisville or of the Louisville Firemen's Pension Fund (hereafter to be known as Louisville Firefighters Pension Fund).
