Sec. 157.
The Library Department shall have the power and duty:
(1) To manage and control the libraries, branch libraries and reading rooms of the City of Los Angeles;
(2) To establish, maintain and operate a central library, branch libraries and reading rooms within or without the City, and to acquire and take by purchase, lease, condemnation, gift, in trust, or otherwise, and to hold for the City, any and all property necessary or convenient for such purposes. (Sec. Added, 1925.)
The trustees appointed under the 1889 Charter have the right to the control and management of the library, to the exclusion of trustees elected under the general law of 1880, which does not apply thereto.
