151.08 RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS.
   (a)   Effective May 1, 2003 and thereafter, all original appointments to the following full time employment positions with the Village of Lordstown, to-wit: Chief of Police, Fire Chief, Roads Superintendent, Parks, Grounds and Buildings Superintendent and Planning and Zoning Administrator, shall be made only to residents of the Village of Lordstown or individuals who shall become residents of the Village of Lordstown within one year following their original date of appointment or employment (which year shall commence to run following the required six-month probationary period for all full time employees of the Village) and such employees shall remain residents of the Village of Lordstown during the term of their employment with the Village. This section shall be applicable to all of the aforementioned full time employment positions with the Village of Lordstown whether such appointment is permanent, temporary, probationary, classified or unclassified; however, this section shall not apply to any provisional employees hired with external grant funds or contract employees who provide professional legal, accounting, engineering, or other such similar services to the Village of Lordstown.
   (b)   No existing employee of the Village of Lordstown as of May 1, 2003 shall be required to change his or her place of residence nor shall any promotion or change in such employee’s job description as a continuing employee of the Village require a change of residence.
   (c)   For purposes of this section, the term “residence” shall be synonymous with inhabitancy or domicile denoting a permanent dwelling place where the employee resides with his or her family, but does not prohibit said employee from owning or controlling an interest in another residence provided that such other residence is not the primary residence of the employee.
   (d)   The Mayor of the Village of Lordstown shall be charged with responsibility for enforcement of this section and any person in violation of this section shall be removed from his or her position by order of the Mayor.
