151.09 CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS.
   (a)   Village Council shall require all new employees eighteen years and older (full, part-time, temporary, seasonal, compensated or uncompensated) to submit to a criminal background check from an authorized law enforcement agency within the State of Ohio prior to being employed by the Village of Lordstown.
   (b)   All new employees eighteen years and older (full, part-time, temporary, seasonal, compensated or uncompensated) shall independently submit to a criminal background check from an authorized law enforcement agency within the State of Ohio, obtain a receipt for said criminal background check, and seek reimbursement from the Village of Lordstown in an amount not to exceed fifty dollars ($50.00)
   (c)   The Mayor and Clerk are furthermore authorized to assume responsibility for administering the criminal background check employment program with the Village of Lordstown and acknowledge that all background checks generated shall be transmitted confidentially to the Mayor and Clerk.
   (d)   The costs incurred to perform such criminal background checks for new employees eighteen years and older of the Village of Lordstown may exceed fifty dollars ($50.00) per background check, however, the Village of Lordstown shall only reimburse a sum not to exceed fifty dollars ($50.00) per background check (with proof of receipt) and shall be charged to the professional services account of the affected department account within the Village of Lordstown.
   (e)   This section shall become effective retroactively to April 5, 2021 upon passage by Village Council.
