(a) No person shall place a portable storage unit upon any parcel in the City of Lorain without first obtaining a permit from the Building, Housing and Planning Department and approval from the Chief Building Official. The application shall contain the name of the applicant to whom the storage unit is supplied, the name of the person who owns, rents, occupies or controls the property, the address at which the portable storage unit(s) shall be placed, the date of last inspection including the active building permit number. A sketch depicting the location and placement of the storage unit(s) and the purpose of its use must be provided along with a picture of the surrounding area. A permit is required for each portable storage unit on the property. The permit must be posted in the front window of the property or attached to the portable storage unit in a waterproof pocket if there are no windows on the property within which to post the permit.
(b) A nonrefundable permit fee of eighty dollars ($80.00) per unit, must be paid and
submitted along with the application. Should a Portable Storage Unit be placed on a property within the City of Lorain prior to a permit being granted to the person or entity responsible for placing said unit, a nonrefundable fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) shall be paid by the applicant in addition to the established eighty dollars ($80.00) permit fee for the permit from the person or entity responsible for the Portable Storage Unit.
