1507.25 RESIDENTIAL WIRING REQUIREMENTS.
   (a)    Nonmetallic sheathed cable may be used for the wiring of dwellings and apartments arranged for one or more, but not more than twelve units.
   (b)    Residential buildings arranged for more than twelve dwelling units shall be wired in approved metal raceway. The requirements for a main disconnect shall be determined by a conforming fire wall, separating not more than six dwelling units.
   (c)    In a multi-family dwelling, each individual apartment shall be provided with not less than sixty-ampere main switch.
   (d)    All exposed wiring and outlets in basements shall be installed as per the requirements of the current National Electrical Code.
   (e)    At least one outlet controlled by a wall switch shall be provided for each habitable room, kitchen, toilet room, bathroom and garage. A lighting outlet shall be provided at laundry trays, boilers, furnaces and other central heating devices; three-way switches shall be provided for all stairways to control lighting outlets illuminating such stairways. Hallways exceeding twelve feet shall be controlled by three-way switches.
   (f)    In residences without basements and with a concrete floor slab, wiring in slab shall be in rigid galvanized conduit, three-fourths inch minimum, and wall switch outlets and plates and receptacle outlets and plates shall be properly grounded unless constructed entirely of insulating material. Note: Outlet boxes constructed of insulating material shall not be used with metal raceway.
