903.06 ASSESSMENTS.
Council may require the construction or repair of sidewalks by the owners of the lots or lands abutting thereon. If such owners fail to do so within the time period allowed (a minimum of thirty days) after the service of notice, Council shall cause such sidewalks to be constructed or repaired and assess the total cost thereof against such abutting property in accordance with Ohio R.C. Chapter 729.
Should the owner desire to do the necessary work himself he must obtain a permit as provided in Section 903.01 before proceeding with any work. The permit shall be valid for the time period allowed, (a minimum of thirty days) after receipt of a notice from the Clerk of Council that the sidewalk work is mandatory. At the end of this time period, the permit will become void and the work will then be performed under a City contract with all costs assessable.
Neither the owner nor the contractor will be required to obtain permits for work performed under City contract. (Ord. 36-72. Passed 3-20-72.)
