All sidewalks shall be laid with a slope from the property line towards the curb of three- eights of an inch to one foot.
The property line side of the walk shall be set at a grade above the established grade of the street, (the top of the curb) as determined by the formula one-quarter inch per foot of distance from curb line to property line plus one inch. Thus for a twenty-foot width, curb to property line, six inches; for a seventeen-foot width, curb to property line, five and one-quarter inches; for a twelve-foot width, curb to property line, four inches.
For unpaved streets or streets where pavements will be widened, the planned ultimate width of the pavement shall be used to determine curb line and walk grade.
In unusual cases where existing conditions render it impossible or impractical to comply with the slope and elevations established herein as standard, the City Engineer shall have the right and authority to establish the slopes and grades to fit conditions at the site of the work.
Alternate proposals by the owner may be submitted to the City Engineer for approval prior to the start of any construction.
