All public sidewalks constructed in street rights of way in residential areas within the City, shall be four feet wide, five feet wide or six feet wide, the width to be determined by the City Engineer. In no case shall a public walk in a residential area be less than four feet in width.
The outside or pavement edge of all walks in residential areas, regardless of the width of the walk or the street right of way, shall be six feet off the property line.
In unusual cases where existing conditions render it impossible or impractical to comply with the location established herein as standard, the City Engineer shall have the right and authority to establish the location to fit conditions at the site of the work.
The location of all sidewalk to be constructed in places other than public street rights of way in residential areas, namely, in or on public easements or other public properties such as parks, or in business or industrial areas where standard locations as established herein are not practical or acceptable, shall be approved by the City Engineer prior to the start of any construction.
