§ 150.03 RESIDENCE AND PRINCIPAL BUILDING IDENTIFICATION.
   (A)   Purpose. The purpose of this section is for the proper identification of all houses and structures now existing or hereafter to be erected within the city to improve the response time of police, fire, ambulance, and other emergency services within the city. The official number, which shall be obtained by the owner from the City Administrator’s Office, shall be placed and maintained on each house or structure by its owner at or near the front or rear entrances of the house or structure in a manner that the number may be easily and clearly seen and read during the hours of darkness as well as daylight from the public street.
   (B)   Definition. For the purpose of this section, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
      CURBSIDE MAILBOX. Any mailbox erected at the edge of a roadway or street to be served by a United States Post Office carrier from a vehicle on any public road, street or highway, exclusive of receptacles for newspapers delivered by private carriers.
   (C)   Identification requirement.
      (1)   The approved house number to be placed and maintained on the house or structure shall comply with the following specifications:
         (a)   House numbers should be located on the front of the house.
         (b)   House numbers should be the four inches in height.
         (c)   House numbers should be visible from the road.
         (d)   House number colors should contrast with the color of the house so that they are easily readable.
      (2)   The approved house number to be placed on the curbside mailbox shall comply with the following specifications:
         (a)   House number should be located on the front of the curbside mailbox.
         (b)   House numbers should be at least one inch in height.
         (c)   House number colors should contrast with the color of the curbside mailbox so that they are easily readable.
   (D)   Applicability. This section applies to all structures within the city.
   (E)   Violation and penalties. A violation of the code is a misdemeanor punished as provided in § 10.99. Each day shall constitute a separate offense.
