The type of pit used in drilling operations shall be determined by the oil and gas inspector at the time of permitting. The pit and its contents shall be removed from the premises within 45 days after the completion of the well; provided, however, that the permittee may apply for a 45-day extension from such requirements based on a showing of good cause, necessity to maintain said pit, inclement weather, or other factors. The city may designate a period of time shorter than the 45-day extension set out herein. Upon completion of use of earthen pits, such pits shall be filled and leveled in accordance with the time periods set out herein.
