(a) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation knowingly to print, sell, offer for sale, give away, exhibit, televise, publish, or offer to publish, or have in his or its possession or under his or its control, or otherwise distribute, make, display or exhibit, any obscene book, magazine, story, pamphlet, paper, writing, card, advertisement, circular, print, pictures, photographs, motion picture film, image, cast, slide, figure, instrument, statue, drawing, phonographic record, or other article which is obscene
(b) For the purposes of this section, the word "obscene" is defined as whether to the average person, applying contemporary community standards, the dominant theme of the material taken as a whole appeals to the prurient interest.
(c) Any person, firm or corporation or any agent or employee of any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this section shall be fined in accordance with Section 1-4 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Longview, Texas, and each day's violation of any provision of this section shall be a separate offense.
(d) In the event of the violation of any provision of this section, the City Attorney is hereby authorized to make application to the proper court or courts to issue any and all proper restraining orders, temporary and permanent injunctions and any other such writs and processes which shall be necessary to carry out and enforce the provisions of this section.
