9-5-13: TESTING AND REPAIRS:
Backflow prevention assemblies shall be tested and repaired in accordance with the requirements set out in the Washington administrative code, the Revised Code Of Washington, and this chapter.
If an assembly is found not to be functioning properly, the assembly owner is responsible to have the assembly repaired or replaced within seventy two (72) hours of the assembly's initial failing test.
All presently installed backflow prevention assemblies that do not meet the requirements of this chapter, but were approved assemblies for the purpose described herein at the time of installation, are commensurate with the degree of hazard and that have been properly maintained, shall, except for the inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements, be excluded from the requirements of these rules so long as the city is assured that they will satisfactorily protect the system. Whenever the existing assembly is moved from the present location, requires more than minimum maintenance, or parts are no longer available, the unit shall be replaced by an approved backflow prevention assembly.
