§ 30.02 TERMS OF TOWN COUNCIL MEMBERS.
   (A)   The current Town Council members shall continue to serve in such capacity until the respective terms expire on January 1, 2024.
   (B)   Implementation of staggered terms.
      (1)   (a)   An election for all five Town Council positions shall be held during the municipal election to be held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November, 2023.
         (b)   Town Council members elected to office in the November, 2023 election shall serve a term of one year commencing on January 1, 2024, and expiring on January 1, 2025.
      (2)   An election for all five Town Council positions shall be held during the general election on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November, 2024.
         (a)   The two Town Council members elected and receiving the most votes in the November, 2024 general election shall serve four year terms commencing on January 1, 2025.
         (b)   The remaining three Town Council members elected in the November, 2024 general election shall serve two year terms commencing on January 1, 2025.
   (C)   For elections after the full implementation of staggered election cycles as provided in division (B) above, each duly elected Town Council member shall serve a term of four years.
   (D)   In the event that a Town Council member shall, for any reason, become disqualified or otherwise unable to complete the four year term to which the member was elected, a successor shall be selected according to applicable Indiana election laws to complete the unexpired four year term.
