A. State License, City Registration Required: All persons engaged in the electrical contractor's business shall hold a valid State contractor's license and shall have such license registered with the City.
B. Journeyman Wireman: No person shall work as a journeyman wireman in the City unless he shall have a valid State journeyman's license and shall have such license registered with the City.
C. Apprentice Electrician: No person shall do any electrical work within the corporate limits of the City who is not an apprentice having a current certificate of registration as an apprentice issued by the State and registered with the City. All apprentices shall carry on their person at all times while performing electrical work within the City their certificates of registration (State and City). The Office of Electrical Inspector, upon acceptance for such registration, shall issue a certificate of registration to each registrant. Such registration shall authorize such apprentice to do electrical work in the City, provided such work is done under the direct personal supervision of a licensed journeyman at all times. Such supervision shall be defined as the doing of work within sight and audible communication with a journeyman electrician. No work shall be done by an apprentice when not in the presence of and under the supervision of a journeyman. No more than three (3) apprentices shall perform electrical work at the same time under the supervision of one (1) journeyman electrician.
D. Maintenance Electrician: No person shall engage in the occupation of maintenance electrician without first being registered with the electrical inspector by owner or owners of the building or buildings, or by the authorized representative of such owner or owners; such registration showing the name of the employer, the place of employment, and certifying that the maintenance electrician named is a regular employee giving his full time to this employer's service. All maintenance electricians registered in the City shall also be registered journeymen wiremen.
E. Expiration Of Registration; Renewals: All licenses and registrations provided for herein shall expire on the last day of the contractor's birth month. A fee will be charged if renewal occurs after the month of the contractor's birth. (Ord. 2017-265, 4-17-2017, eff. 5-1-2017)
