The provisions of this Building Code are not intended to limit the appropriate use of materials, appliances, equipment or methods of design or construction not specifically prescribed by this Code, provided the Building Inspector determines that the proposed alternative materials, appliances, equipment or methods of design or construction are at least equivalent of that prescribed in this Code in suitability, quality, strength, effectiveness, fire resistance, durability, dimensional stability, safety and sanitation.
The Building Inspector may require that evidence or proof be submitted to substantiate any claims that may be made regarding the proposed alternative.
A certificate of approval by an approved agency shall be furnished with every prefabricated assembly authorized by the State of Ohio, except where all elements of the assembly are readily accessible to inspection at the site. Placement of prefabricated assembles at the building site shall be inspected by the Building Inspector to determine compliance with this Code.
