The purpose of the General Manufacturing District is to provide areas to encourage the development of primary manufacturing, processing, warehousing, and major research and testing operations. These activities require extensive community facilities, and reasonable access to major thoroughfares; they generally have extensive open storage and service areas and generate heavy traffic.
