Any lawful lot, structure, use of land, use of structures, or use of land and structures in combination existing on the effective state of this chapter, or any amendment thereto, may be continued even though it does not conform to the provisions of this chapter. Nothing contained in this chapter shall require any change in the layout, plans, construction, size or use of any lot, structure, use of land, use of structures, or use of land and structures in combination for which a zoning permit became effective prior to the effective date of this chapter or any amendment thereto. No non-conformity may be moved, extended, altered, or expanded except as otherwise specifically provided for in this chapter without the approval of the Board of Zoning Appeals.
