§ 114.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   BUSINESS ENTITY. Any person, firm, partnership, or corporation who has or engages peddler, solicitor or canvasser in its behalf.
   CANVASSER. Any person, business entity, firm, or corporation who, going from place to place, without prior appointment or prearrangement meets with persons, firms, or corporations for the purpose of soliciting funds or donations of property, or for conducting surveys, or for conducting polls or for obtaining endorsements for any product, service, group or association.
   CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION. Any patriotic, philanthropic, social service, welfare, athletic, political, benevolent, educational, civic, or fraternal organization which was organized and exists as a not-for-profit entity.
   CITY. The City of Lockport, Will County, Illinois.
   PEDDLER. Any person, business entity, firm, or corporation who, going from place to place, shall at retail sell, offer for sale, sell and deliver, barter, or exchange any goods, products, or services. It shall not include a serviceman who is responding to a prior call.
   PERSON. Any individual, firm, partnership, corporation, or entity who is over 18 years of age.
   PUBLIC WAYS. All streets, highways, and/or roadways within the city and shall include the entire right-of-way.
   SOLICITOR. Any person, business entity, firm, or corporation who goes from place to place, without prior appointment or prearrangement with the customer, to take orders for future delivery at retail of any merchandise or other article or thing, or any service.
   STREET SOLICITATION. A day or days upon which a charitable organization may conduct a tag day on the public ways within the city.
   TAG DAY. A day or days upon which a charitable organization may solicit contributions in the city at locations other than on public ways by means of distributing emblems, flowers, edible items, or tags to persons who make a contribution to such charitable organization.
