§ 31.04 POLICE OFFICERS RESIDENCE REQUIREMENT.
   All police officers of the city who are not on probation, shall maintain their principal places of residence within ten miles of the corporate boundaries of the city during the period of their employment. All probationary police officers shall be required to have their principal places of residence within the above mentioned ten mile limit, as set forth in this section, prior to the date that the officer is no longer on probation. Any officer who is no longer on probation who previously resided outside the abovementioned ten mile limit on the effective date of this section shall be permitted to continue to have his principal place of residence outside the above mentioned ten mile limit of the city, provided that, if such officer shall discontinue his principal place of residence outside the above mentioned ten mile limit, then the officer shall be required to comply with the above mentioned ten mile limit and principal place of residence requirements set forth in this section.
