§ 678.01 DEFINITIONS.
   (a)   As used in this chapter, PARENT, GUARDIAN or OTHER PERSON HAVING CHARGE OR CARE OF A CHILD means either parent, unless the parents are separated or divorced, in which case parent means the parent with the legal custody of the child. If neither parent has legal custody of the child, PARENT means the person or government agency with legal custody or permanent custody as those terms are defined in Ohio R.C. § 2151.011(B).
   (b)   As used in this chapter, a child between six and 18 years of age is OF COMPULSORY SCHOOL AGE. The compulsory school age of a child shall not commence until the beginning of the term of the schools or other time in the school year fixed by the rules of the board of the districts in which he or she resides.
