§ 250.07 VACATIONS.
   (a)   The vacation period for each employee shall be granted on the basis of seniority. The right to allot vacation periods and the right to choose such allotments is reserved by the municipality in order to ensure the orderly operation of the Water Department. A full-time employee is entitled to vacation, with pay, upon the anniversary date of his or her employment, as follows:

   (b)   On the first business day of each calendar year the Public Works Director shall notify each employee of the vacation days which they are due. If the employee is entitled to additional vacation time at the employee's anniversary date during the calendar year, the employee will receive that additional time on their anniversary date, and those vacation days can be used thereafter during the remainder of the calendar year. All vacation days shall be taken within the calendar year, if at all possible, and shall not carryover from year to year. In the event of an unusual circumstance, pay in lieu of vacation shall be given at the discretion of the Village Administrator.
   (c)   Any employee entitled to vacation shall notify his or her supervisor by April 1 of each calendar year of his or her choice of options which he or she desires to take. Some employees may reach one of the above anniversary dates during any calendar year. In order to take advantage of the increased vacation entitlement during that calendar year, however, the employee must have requested that vacation prior to April 1 of the year. If he or she does not do so, that vacation may not be taken until the following calendar year. If an individual fails to identify his or her vacation option by April 1 of the calendar year, the vacation period will be assigned at the discretion of the Village Administrator.
