(a) There is hereby established in and for the municipality the position of Zoning Code Enforcement Officer. Such officer shall be appointed by the Mayor and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor. Unless otherwise expressly provided, the Zoning, Building and Housing Code Enforcement Officer shall be responsible for the enforcement of the Planning and Zoning, and the Building and Housing Codes, including all technical codes adopted therein.
(b) The Village Administrator is hereby authorized to designate General Code Enforcement Officers for the village for the purpose of enforcing those ordinances for which the Code Enforcement Officer/or the Village Administrator has enforcement responsibilities, including without limitation, Chapter 660, Safety, Sanitation and Health; Chapter 674, Weed Control; Chapter 1060, Garbage and Refuse Collection and Disposal; Chapters 1220-1278, Planning and Zoning; and Chapters 1420 through Chapter 1482, Building Standards Administration, Miscellaneous Building Regulations and Housing.
(c) In performing the tasks described in division (b), the General Code Enforcement Officers shall be responsible to the Village Administrator. Subject to the further authorization by Village Council, the Village Administrator is authorized to approve up to 20 hours per week of part-time pay at a rate as shall be determined by Council from time to time to designated General Code Enforcement Officer(s) for work devoted to code enforcement activities discussed in division (b). The 20 hours shall be the total cumulative hours of all time spent by the General Code Enforcement Officer(s). Compensation for General Code Enforcement Officer(s) shall be paid based on actual hours worked, which hours shall be subject to the advance approval of the Village Administrator.
