§ 1480.06 INSPECTIONS; RIGHT OF ENTRY; LIABILITY.
   (a)   The Housing Inspector is hereby authorized and directed to make inspections to determine the condition of dwellings, dwelling units, rooming houses, rooming units, commercial units and other premises located in the municipality, in order that he or she may perform his or her duty of safeguarding the health and safety of the occupants of dwellings and of the general public, for purposes of enforcing this Housing Code. For the purpose of making such inspections and upon showing appropriate identification, the Housing Inspector is hereby authorized to enter, examine and survey, at any reasonable hour, any dwelling, dwelling unit, rooming house, rooming unit, commercial unit or other premises. The owner or occupant of a dwelling, dwelling unit, rooming house, rooming unit or commercial unit, or the person in charge thereof, shall give the Housing Inspector free access to the same and its premises at any reasonable hour for the purpose of such inspection, examination and survey.
   (b)   No officer, agent or employee of the municipality shall render himself or herself personally liable for any damage that may accrue to persons or property as a result of any act required or permitted in the discharge of his or her duties under this Housing Code. Any suit brought against such officer, agent or employee of the municipality as a result of any act required or permitted in the discharge of his or her duties under this Housing Code shall be defended by the Village Solicitor until the final determination of the proceedings therein.
