§ 1424.02 INSPECTIONS; RIGHT OF ENTRY; LIABILITY.
   (a)   The Code Enforcement Officer is hereby authorized and directed to make inspections to determine the condition of buildings, structures and other premises located in the municipality, in order that he or she may perform his or her duty of safeguarding the health and safety of the occupants and of the general public, for purposes of enforcing this Building and Housing Code. For the purpose of making such inspections and upon showing appropriate identification, the Code Enforcement Officer is hereby authorized to enter, examine and survey, at any reasonable hour, any building, structure or other premises. The owner or occupant of a building, structure or other premises, or the person in charge thereof, shall give the Code Enforcement Officer free access to the same at any reasonable hour for the purpose of such inspection, examination and survey.
   (b)   No officer, agent or employee of the municipality shall render himself or herself personally liable for any damage that may accrue to persons or property as a result of any act required or permitted in the discharge of his or her duties under this chapter of the Building and Housing Code. Any suit brought against such officer, agent or employee of the municipality as a result of any act required or permitted in the discharge of his or her duties under this chapter of the Building and Housing Code shall be defended by the Solicitor until the final determination of the proceedings therein.
