(A) Responsibility Of Owner: It shall be unlawful for any owner to have a dog running at large within the city. It shall not be a defense to this section that the owner did not permit the dog to be running at large.
(B) Animals Injured While At Large: Dogs or cats injured on public property while running at large shall be removed by the animal control officer and given adequate veterinary medical treatment if deemed necessary by the officer, pending notification of the owner. The owner of such animals shall be liable for all veterinary expenses and impoundment fees.
(C) Animals Found Dead After Being At Large: If any dog or cat dies while running at large in the city, the owner shall be liable for disposal fees established by the animal shelter in addition to penalties for violation of this section. (Ord. 18, Series of 1982)
