149.03   HOLIDAYS.
   (a)   The following are legal holidays for Village employees:
      (1)   The first day of January (New Year's Day)
      (2)   Martin Luther King Day
      (3)   President's Day
      (4)   The day in May designated by the Federal government as Memorial Day
      (5)   The fourth day of July (Independence Day)
      (6)   The first Monday in September (Labor Day)
      (7)   Veterans Day
      (8)   The fourth Thursday in November (Thanksgiving Day)
      (9)   The twenty-fifth day of December (Christmas Day).
   (b)   Any recognized holiday pursuant to this section which falls on a Saturday shall be celebrated on the immediately preceding Friday. Any recognized holiday pursuant to the Village ordinances which falls on a Sunday shall be celebrated on the immediately following Monday. Any sick day taken the day before or the day after a holiday will result in the nonpayment of the holiday
   (c)   Full-time Public Works, Cemetery employees and office employees shall not work on the aforesaid holidays except in case of emergency, and they shall be paid holiday pay plus overtime pay for hours worked.
   (d)   Full-time members of the safety forces (patrolmen and dispatchers) shall receive an extra day's pay for each of the aforesaid holidays that occurs during a pay period, if they are not scheduled to work the holiday. Those members who are scheduled to work the holiday shall be paid one and one-half  extra days pay for the holiday.
   (e)   A week is divided for purposes of this section as beginning on Sunday and ending on the following Saturday.
