Nuisance animals, animals at large, abused or neglected animals, or unlicensed animals shall be taken by an Animal Control Officer and impounded. If by a license, tag, or other means the owner of an impounded animal can be identified, the Animal Control Officer shall notify the owner by telephone or mail. Impounded animals shall be kept for not less than five business days. Any owner reclaiming an impounded animal shall be responsible for all reasonable costs for the care and maintenance of the animal while in the city’s custody. Any animal not reclaimed by its owner within five business days shall become the property of the city and shall be disposed of in any appropriate manner.
